String Ensemble: Summer 2026

Wednesdays June 3, 10, 17, 24, and July 1
6:45-8:15 pm
Concert:
NONE. This summer session is just to enjoy making music together!!
Rehearsal Location:
Wayland COA/Community Center
8 Andrew Ave., Wayland, MA
Registration is through SVNHM, NOT LS Adult Ed (they don’t have a summer program).
Registration fee is $80 for all 5 sessions or $20 per session drop-in (cash or check only).
Music & Materials
Louie will be working with you this summer and he says:
“This summer, share music from the soundtrack of your life with your string family as we explore a variety of repertoire bridging genres and generations. This will be a peer-directed summer reading orchestra without a concert, which will allow us to cover as much music as possible. The rules are simple: You choose the music (songs you love, songs you've always wanted to play, songs you feel your classically-myopic instructor should discover...), and the instructor will arrange them for the group. Your suggestions will be crucial to our curriculum, so please feel free to cut loose! Come and jam with us this summer!”
Music may be sent ahead of time or passed out at the rehearsals.
What to bring to all rehearsals:
- Your music stand
- Your instrument
- Your music
- You pencil
- Your love of making music!
Other details:
Restroom access: Yes!
Food: We will be having a short time after rehearsal for snacks and social time. Each section will have a week assigned for people to bring snacks if they would like to. More info to come!
Arrival: You may arrive any time after 6:20 pm and hang out to chat at the end of rehearsal.
Cleanup: If you are able, please help us put away chairs after rehearsal.
Zoom: We are NOT Zooming rehearsals during the summer.
